F*CK WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Logline:
Two dedicated actors are distraught when cast as understudies in an amateur production of Romeo and Juliet; with the need for the spotlight blinding them, they decide to take 'break a leg,' literally.
Genre:
Genre : Coming of Age (Drama/Dark Comedy)
Brief:
In the vein of stories like Ghostlight (2024), Bonnie and Clyde, Glee and spoofs like Shakespeare in Love, F*CK William Shakespeare is a study of the human condition. It explores themes of desire and ambition; it is a parodied look into how our passions can destroy us. A satirical critique on student theatre and its pressures, it features two leading characters who are on similar trajectories, and find solace in their mutual unluckiness. A love story without the romance.

Creation:
Originally created as a capstone project for an Advanced Narrative Production course, ‘F*CK WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’ is a short film that was filmed over the course of a three day shoot with over fourteen cast and crew members. It premiered in Turner Theatre, along with other capstone films, at the Elon University School of Communications for a group of invited guests.
The short employs deadpan humor and absurdity, to communicate real emotions and practices seen in drama schools in a more caricatured way. The short is currently in the process of being prepared to submit to film festivals.
